Removes suspended solids from incoming mains water: sand, silt, rust and pipe scale.
Suspended solids are a mechanical load. They abrade the control valve as it cycles, and they accumulate in the media bed between backwashes. Removing them at the mains keeps the valve clean and keeps the carbon in full contact with the water.
Manual backwashing required once every few weeks depending on usage. Turning the knob flushes trapped sediment to drain and returns the screen to clean. Low water use. No cartridge to replace.
