The BASELINE ONE Softener treats water by passing it through a bed of ion exchange resin, which holds calcium and magnesium and releases them to drain during regeneration. Salt restores the bed on every cycle, so the resin is not consumed in normal operation. Exchange capacity does decline gradually across years of service. ONE Softener Recharge replaces the bed with fresh resin at the original grade and volume.
25L of food grade cation exchange resin in sodium form. One full bed charge for a single BASELINE ONE Softener.
Resin is a long life media, replaced on condition rather than on a set interval. Two indicators point to a bed nearing end of service: fewer litres treated between regenerations at unchanged household usage, and hardness returning late in the cycle.
Chlorine must be treated before coming in contact with ion exchange resin. Chlorine will significantly reduce the lifespan on resin and void warranty.
Replacement requires the tank to be opened, the existing bed flushed out and the new resin loaded. This is plumbing work and most owners arrange a plumber. Fitting instructions are supplied.
